if bob gave dave 8 dollars, both of them will have the same amount of money. If jane adds 14 dollars to bobs original amount, the ratio of bobs money to daves original sum of money will be 5:2, how much money did bob have at first.

Let B and D, be the original amounts Bob and Dave had, respectively
We then get: B – 8 = D + 8______D = B - 16 ------ eq (i)
Also, ____2(B + 14) = 5D___2B + 28 = 5D ------- eq (ii)
2B + 28 = 5(B - 16) – 2B = 28 ------ Substituting B - 16 for D in eq (ii)
2B + 28 = 5B - 80
2B - 5B = - 80 - 28
- 3B = - 108
