The planks of wood cost £3.00 per metre and can be bought in lengths of 250cm.
The planks are 20cm wide and 2cm thick.
what will it cost to buy each plank of wood?
how many planks will be needed for the two sides?

250 cm is 2.5 meters, so cost per plank is a simple multiplication by the cost per meter.

No idea how many planks are required for the sides since you didn't bother to specify the depth of the shelves.
