Question 1120829: Two factory plants are making TV panels. Yesterday, Plant A produced
6000
fewer panels than Plant B did. Three percent of the panels from Plant A and
5%
of the panels from Plant B were defective. How many panels did Plant B produce, if the two plants together produced
1420
defective panels?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Since the problem asks for the number produced by plant B, it makes sense to make that our variable. So

let x = # produced by plant B
then x-6000 = # produced by plant A

5% of those produced by plant B and 3% of those produced by plant A were defective, for a total of 1420.

Write and solve the equation that says that:

.05%28x%29%2B.03%28x-6000%29+=+1420

You can do the simple algebra....
