Question 111960: Please help :)
Find the equation for the line passing through the origin and perpendicular to y=1/2x-2
Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website! We know that the origin is at ( 0, 0 )
and to find the slope of a perpendiculat line, we must take the oposite reciprical. In the equation y = 1/2x -2, the slope is 1/2. The oposite reciprical of this is -2, so the slope of our new line will be -2.
Now that we bave both a point of passage and a slope, we can use the point slope formula in order to determine the equation of the new line.
that is:
(y - 0) = -2(x - 0)
y = -2x
Thiis is the equation of the line which is perpendicular to the line y = 1/2x - 2 and passing through the oriin.
