Question 1118106: Find the general solution for 4sin^2theta=3
My answer is 180n+-(-1)^n x 60
Why is the answer actually 180n+-60?
Please help, I have a maths exam soon.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! as far as i can tell, your answers are equivalent.
take any value of n and calculate their answer and your answer and compare them.
they will be equal.
for example:
when n = 15:
their answer is 180 * 15 plus or minus 60 = 2700 plus or minus 60.
your answer is 180 * 15 plus or minus (-1)^15 * 60 = 2700 minus or plus 60, which is the same as 2700 plus or minus 60.
when n = -100:
their answer is 180 * -100 plus or minus 60 = -18000 plus or minus 60.
your answer is 180 * -100 plus or minus (-1)^(-100) * 60 = -18000 plus or minus 60.
i checked with excel and for n = -10 to n = +10, your answer and their answer are equivalent.
your answer might be in a different form, but it is as correct as their answer.
unfortunately, they're looking for their answer rather than your answer.
their answer does look simpler than yours, but they're equivalent.
if they mark it wrong, you can argue that it's the same answer and you would be correct in saying so.
