Question 1117952: A medical association randomly selected 10 plastic surgeons and 10 trauma surgeons and asked them how flexible their schedule is on a 1 (not at all flexible) to 9 (very flexible) scale. The data are summarized below:

Mean
Variance
Plastic surgeons
8
5
Trauma surgeons
3
1
Which of the statements below is true about this data?

All medical professionals have similar levels of flexibility in their schedules.

Trauma surgeons have more flexibility than plastic surgeons.

Trauma surgeons agree more with each other about their level of flexibility than plastic surgeons.

Plastic surgeons agree more with each other about their level of flexibility than trauma surgeons.

none of the above

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
One has to be careful with an ordinal scale in the conclusions drawn. Indeed, one could make the case for saying "none of the above," since the mean and variance calculated from an ordinal scale is not interval or ratio based.
Let me assume this is not too var from interval.
Plastic surgeons are more flexible but more variable in their flexibility than trauma surgeons.
That would make trauma surgeons's agreeing with each other about level of flexibility the best answer. This can't be extrapolated to all medical professionals.
