You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A road has a rise of 6 ft in 80 ft. What is the gradient angle of the road? Round to the nearest tenth of a degree?
Think of this as a right triangle where the road is the hypotenuse,
Let x = the gradient angle
the side opposite the gradient angle is 6 ft
the side adjacent the gradient angle is 80 ft
:
We can use the Tangent of the gradient angle (side opposite over side adjacent)
:
tan(x) = 6%2F80%29
tan(x) = .075
x = 4.3 degrees
