Question 1117601: A rectangular play ground at a park measures 62 feet by 48 feet There is a 4 t wide waikway that borders the perimeter of the playground What is the arca of the walkway? Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
Add the width of the walkway to each side of the dimensions of the playground. That is, increase each of the dimensions by 8. This will give you the dimensions of the rectangle describing the outer edge of the walkway.
Calculate the area (length times width) of the large rectangle, then calculate the area of the playground. Subtract the area of the playground from the area of the large rectangle.
