You can put this solution on YOUR website!

J = Jill's current age
A = Amanda's current age

J = 2*A because "Jill is 2 times as old as Amanda"

Seven years ago, Jill was J-7 years old and Amanda was A-7 years old. The sum of their ages back then was 13, so,
(J-7)+(A-7) = 13
J+A-14 = 13
J+A-14+14 = 13+14
J+A = 27

Plug in J = 2A and solve for A
J+A = 27
2A+A = 27
3A = 27
A = 27/3
A = 9

Use this to find J
J = 2*A
J = 2*9
J = 18

Jill is 18 years old currently. Amanda is 9 years old currently.

As a check, if we go back 7 years then Jill is now 11 years old while Amanda is 2 years old. Their past ages sum to 11+2 = 13.
