Question 1116708: An observer notices an aeroplane flying directly overhead. Two minutes later the aeroplane is at an angle of elevation of 27 degrees. Assuming the aeroplane is traveling at a constant speed and altitude, what will be the angle of elevation after another 2 minutes?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

An observer at O notices an aeroplane flying directly overhead at A .
Two minutes later, the plane has moved a distance AB , and is now at B ,
with an angle of elevation BOD measuring blue%2827%5Eo%29 .
In another two minute, at the same sped, and same altitude, OA ,
the plane will have moved a distance BC=AB , and will be at C ,
with an angle of elevation COD measuring green%28theta%29 .

tan%28blue%2827%5Eo%29%29=OA%2FAB=0.5095254 according to my calculator.

If tan%28green%28theta%29%29=0.2547627 , as per my calculator,
green%28theta%29=highlight%2814.3%5Eo%29 will be the approximate measure of angle of elevation COD .
