Question 1115300: A plastic rectangular container with a lenth of 40cm, a breadth of 30cm and a height of 10cm contains 12 identical cans each with a diameter of 10cm and a height of 10cm. The remaining space is filled with cold water to keep the cans cool. How much water required in litres? Found 2 solutions by Shin123, ikleyn:Answer by Shin123(626) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 12000 cm^3=12 liters The forumula for finding the volume of a cylinder is
where r is the radius, or half the diameter and h is height.
So 25pi*12=300pi=approx.942.47779607693797 or you can round that to 942.48 if you need to.
12000 ml-942.48=11507.52 ml or 11.50752 L. I hope I helped you!
The volume of the rectangular container is 40*30*10 = 12000 cm^3.
The volume of the 12 cylinders/cans is 12*3.14*5^2*10 = 9420 cm^3.
The volume of water is the difference 12000 - 9420 = 2580 cm^3 = 2.580 liters.
