You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Carmen will rent a car for the weekend. She can choose one of two plans. The first plan has an initial fee of $42 and costs an additional 0.18 per mile driven.The second plan has an initial fee of $51 and costs an additional $0.13 per mile driven.
First plan:: F(x) = 42+0.18x
Second plan:: S(x) = 51+0.13x
----------------------------------
For what amount of driving/miles do the two plans cost the same?
What is the cost when the two plans cost the same?
Solve:: 42+0.18x = 51+0.13x
0.05x = 9
x = 180 miles
---
F(180) = 42+0.18*180 = $174.40
