Simply divide the two numbers. For instance 1%2F2 becomes

Translate 1%2F2 to:

Write 1 as 1.0. Now how many times does 2 go into 1.0 (think of this number as 10) It goes in 5 times. Remember to write in the decimal

So 1%2F2=0.5
