Question 1112698: She is making a cardboard box by cutting 3 inch squares from the corners and folding up the sides to meet. The volume of the resulting box is V=3x^2-36x+108, where x is the original length and width of the cardboard. Factor the polynomial expression from the volume equation. What is the volume of the box if the original length of each side of the cardboard was 14 inches?
I already factored the polynomial and got this, 3(x-6)(x-6) so the volume is 27. But i need help with the second part, if the original length of the cardboard was 14 inches.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If the original length were 14 inches, each side is now 8 inches, 3 from each end. The height must be 3 inches.
volume is 588-504+108=192 in^3 from the formula.
The box is 8 x 8 x 3=192 in^3.
