Question 1112406: It took a pilot an hour and a halfto make a flightof 240 miles when flying againsta headwind. The return trip took him an hour and twelve minutes (the wind had not shifted nor changed its speed). What was the speed of the wind?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
speed going was 240/1.5 or 160 mph, s-w, where s is speed of plane in still air and w is speed of wind
speed returning was 240/1.2 or 200 mph, s+w
s-w=160
s+w=200, add them
2s=360
s=180 mph and wind is 20 mph ANSWER
