You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
Distance + distance = 315 miles

3*x      + 3*(x+25) = 315  miles    (<<<---=== x is the rate of the slower train)

3x       + 3x + 75  = 315

6x + 75 = 315  ====>  6x = 315 - 75 = 240  ====>  x = 240%2F6 = 40.

Answer. Freight train rate is 40 mph. Passenger train rate is 40 + 25 = 65 mph.
