            OK. I see that even some tutors of this forum are not able to solve it correctly. So I will do it for you.

                            // OK in this case means   "V E R Y     B A D".

As I just wrote in my referred post,

2r + 2*(r+13) = 586  kilometers,  where  r is the slower train speed.

It gives you

2r + 2r + 26 = 586  ====>  4r = 586-26 = 560  ====>  r = 560%2F4 = 140.

Answer. The speed of the slower train is 140 km/h; the speed of the faster train is 140+13 = 153 km/h.

Solved.

Two trains leave towns 586 km apart at the same time and travel toward each other. One train travels 13 km/h slower than the other. If they meet in 2 hours, what is the rate of each train?
Distance apart 586 km
First train speed x
other train speed (x-13)
time = 2 hours
The trains are moving towards each other
add up the speeds
2x-13
t=d/s
2=860/(2x-13)
4x-26 =860
4x = 886
x= 886/4
x= 221.5 km/h One train
Other train 221.5-13= 208.5 km/h
