You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4x%2B5y=7
3x-4y=8
:
Easiest way is to write the equations in slope-intercept form:
:
5y=-4x%2B7
y=-4x%2F5%2B7%2F5, and
:
-4y=-3x%2B8
y=3x%2F4-2
:
Now, graph the two lines by noting that the first equation has a y-intercept of 7/5 and a slope of -4/5 (5 right, 4 down). The second equation has a y-intercept f -2 with a slope of 3/4 (4 right, 3 up).

:
The two lines cross at about (2.2,-1/3), roughly speaking.
