Let x = the smallest part assigned for the third man. Then the second man will get 2x and the first man will get 4x. In all, we have x + 2x + 4x = 7x, or seven equal parts. Thus the smallest part is x = of $63, i.e. $9. Two other parts are $18 and $36.
