x=0.833333... _______ you multiply the value by 10^n; where n is the number of repeating digits

multiplying by 10 gives 10x=8.33333...

subtracting the two values gives 9x=7.5 (all the 3333...'s are subtracted out)

so x=7.5/9 or 15/18 or 5/6
