Question 1108734: Find an explicit formula for the sequence given by: {1, 1/4, 1/9, 1/16, 1/25}
I want to say the formula has something to do with multiplying the position by itself, but I don't know what else or how to make it into a fraction. For instance, 2x2=4, 3x3=9, etc etc.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

You are on the right track....

But the "2x2=4", "3x3=9", etc. are the DENOMINATORS of the terms of the sequence.

So the 1st term is 1%2F%281%2A1%29+=+1%2F1+=+1
The 2nd term is 1%2F%282%2A2%29+=+1%2F2%5E2+=+1%2F4
The 3rd term is 1%2F%283%2A3%29+=+1%2F3%5E2+=+1%2F9
The 4th term is 1%2F%284%2A4%29+=+1%2F4%5E2+=+1%2F16
...

So what is the expression for the n-th term?
