Put 5 quarters aside for a minute. Then the updated collection is worth 510 - 5*25 = 385 cents.
Next, group the rest of the collection in sets, containing 1 dime + 1 quarter each, totaling 10+25 = 35 cents.
The number of sets then is = 11.
Answer. There were 11 dimes and 11+5 = 16 quarters.
