You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Only do that if the numbers and values in the equations mean something to you, and this depends on a person's experience with numbers and values which often occur in specific settings. Numbers on their own do not mean anything (practical). They need some units of measure of what is being counted.

We go from a situation to numbers.
We do not go from just numbers to a situation.

Sam bought vinyl records and CDs. The total number
of vinyl records and CDs was 350.
If each vinyl record cost $2.25 and each CD cost $1.00,
and the total cost was $600,
how many records and how many CDs did he buy?
---------------------------------------------------
Let +x+ = number of vinyl records
Let +y+ = number of CDs
----------------------------------------
(1) +x+%2B+y+=+350+
(2) +2.25x+%2B+y+=+600+
------------------------------
Subtract (1) from (2)
(2) +2.25x+%2B+y+=+600+
(1) +-x+-+y+=+-350+
---------------------------
+1.25x+=+250+
+x+=+200+
and
(1) +200+%2B+y+=+350+
(1) +y+=+150+
------------------------
Sam bought 200 records and 150 CDs
