    Multiply both sides (all the terms) by 9.

    2x + 3x + 1080 = 9x

    1080 = 9x - 2x - 3x  ====>  1080 = 4x  ====>  x = 1080%2F4 = 270.


    Answer.  The book contains 270 pages.
