You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The sum of three numbers is one hundred.
a + b + c = 100
the second number is one more than twice the first number.
b = 2a+ 1
the third number is three less than the first number.
c = a - 3
find the three numbers.
In the 1st equation, replace b with (2a+1)and c with (a-3)
a + (2a+1) + (a-3) = 100
combine like terms
a + 2a + a + 1 - 3 = 100
4a -2 = 100
4a = 100 + 2
4a = 102
a = 102/4
a = 25.5
find b
b = 2(25.5) + 1
b = 51 + 1
b = 52
find c
c = 25.5-3
c = 22.5
:
Check, find the sum of these three numbers
25.5 + 52 + 22.5 = 100
