You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The sum of three numbers is 84
a + b+ c = 84
The second number is 2 times the first.
b = 2a
or
a = 1%2F2b
The third number is 16 less than the second.
c = b - 16
What is the second number?
Replace a and c in the 1st equation
1%2F2b + b + (b-16) = 84
21%2F2b = 84 + 16
b = 100/2.5
b = 40 then
a = 20
c = 40-16
c = 24
:
Check: 20 + 40 + 24 = 84
