Question 1103724: This time he has a mass of 980kg and the airline company said he was too heavy to have a parachute so he jumped without a parachute (again). If you had a starting height of 1km off the ground and an acceleration rate of 9m/s when you jump, what is your potential and kinetic energy when you are halfway through your freefall and before your death.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

When he starts he has a potential energy of,
P%5B1000%5D=mgh=%28980%29%289%29%281000%29=8820000J
When he's at 500m, his potential energy is half of that,
P%5B500%5D=4410000J
and the kinetic energy is now the other half,
K%5B500%5D=4410000J
