With the "+1" at the end of the function, the value in the middle of each period has to be +1; that means the correct graph is either A or C.

But the period is pi/3. The beginnings of the periods for graphs A and C differ by pi, which is an integer multiple of the period, pi/3.

That means BOTH of the graphs A and C are correct; they just show the graph in different periods.


Addendum -- for the reader who replied that they can't both be right....

In fact graphs A and C ARE both correct for the given function; if only one graph is to be the correct answer for the problem, then the problem is flawed.

Graph A shows the three points (5pi/12,4), (pi/2,1), and (7pi/12,-2).
Graph C shows the three points (-7pi/12,4), (-pi/2,1), and (-5pi/12,-2).

All 6 of those points are points on the graph of the given function.
