Question 1101702: The base of this right triangle is 10 in. long. What is its height, h?
The triangle with base 10in.long and its interior angle given 30 degrees.
sin, cos, tan functions: Proportion set up : tan 30 degrees= opposite/adjacent
tan 30 degrees =h/10
How do I solve the problem for h, without a calculator?
Please include step by step instructions. I am very confused with the sin cos and tan functions, especially solving them manually:(
Thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The trig functions of 30, 45 & 60 degs can be determined using the unit circle.
It's covered in great detail on Wikipedia - "Half angle formulas"
----
sin(30) = 1/2
cos(30) = sqrt(3)/2
tan(30) = sqrt(3)/3
============================
You can find the cos and tangent if you remember the sin(30) = 1/2
cos%2830%29+=+sqrt%281+-+sin%5E2%2830%29%29
tan = sin/cos
------------------------
sin(45) = cos(45) = sqrt(2)/2
