Another tutor has suggested that what you were actually asking is what number usually comes next in the sequence 2, 4, 8, ?.
In that case, we have to try to understand what it means to say it USUALLY comes next. And we can only guess at that.
One obvious possibility is that each number in the sequence is formed by doubling the current term:
2*2=4; 4*2=8; so the next number could be 8*2=16.
I would think it safe to say that that is the most likely possibility, since it is so simple.
But there are other possibilities. One other very logical possibility is that the pattern is in the numbers we add to each term to get the next term: to get from 2 to 4 we add 2; to get from 4 to 8 we add 4; so maybe to get from 8 to the next number we add 6:
2+2 = 4
4+4 = 8
8+6 = 14
So there are two very logical patterns that give different answers for the next number in the sequence.
Again I would say that 16 is "usually" the next number in the sequence; but there are other possibilities.
And, in fact, there is no way EVER to know the RIGHT answer to ANY problem like this, because you could put ANY number next and it would be a valid sequence.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
Actually, this person wants to ask, which number goes next in the sequence 2, 4, 8.
The answer is so EVIDENT, that I hesitate to pronounce it.
