You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
254 - 23 = 231 = Oranges + Apples = R + A   (R stands for oranges, A for apples)

                                  ( R = 2A )  ====>

231 = 2A + A = 3A  ====>  A = 231%2F3 = 77.   ====>  R = 2*77 = 154.

Answer.  154 oranges were left.
