Question 1099806: I had this question on my assignment and I only got 2/4 marks for it. We are having a test tomorrow and I still don't know what I did wrong. Can anybody help me?
Kayla bought a concert ticket for $145, but was unable to go, so she sold it for $120. Calculate Kayla's profit or loss as a percentage of cost price of the ticket, correct to 2 decimal place.
I put: 145-120=$25
25/145*100=17.24%

Your answer 17.24% and your calculations %28%28145-120%29%2F145%29%2A100 describe the PROFIT, while actually the LOSS takes place.

You EITHER should say in your answer that 17.24% is the LOSS,

OR write the solution in this way %28%28120-145%29%2F145%29%2A100 = -17.24$, and then the sign "-" (minus) at the number will mean the loss.

You didn't answer the question correctly, isn't it ?
