Question 1099800: I'm in need of some help. I have been trying to figure out this question for days but I don't know how to solve the last part. The entire question is:
Given that log+%282%2C+p%29=+q , find in terms of p, the simplest form of:
(a) log+%282%2C+16p%29+
(b) log+%282%2C+p%5E4%2F2%29
I have already figured out that (a) would be log+%282%2C16p%29+=+q%2B4+ and (b) would be log+%282%2C+p%5E4%2F2%29+=+4q-1 or am I wrong on both accounts. However it is part (c) which make me confused and think I am doing the entire question incorrectly.
(c)Hence, or otherwise, solve log+%282%2C+16p%29+-+log+%282%2C+p%5E4%2F2%29+=+1%2F2 giving the answer in its simplest surd form.
Putting in the values I have for both logs would not give me a surd, so I am stumped. Please help me and thank you in advance for answering my question.
