p+d=17
1.65p+d=21.55
Solve for p and d

Clearly if all 17 coins were dollars, the value would be $17.

But the total value of the coins is $21.55, which is $4.55 more than $17.

Since each pound is worth $0.65 more than a dollar coin, the number of pound coins must be 4.55%2F0.65+=+7

And then the other 10 coins are dollars.
