You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let n be the percentage of alcohol in the water solution. Then:
4n=(4+1)(.36)
4n=1.8
n=.45
The original water solution was an 0.45 alcohol concentration

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +x+ = the quarts of pure alcohol
in the 4 quarts she added
+4+-+x+ = the amount of water
in the 4 quarts she added
-------------------------------------
I can say:
+x+%2F+%28+4+%2B+1+%29+=+.36+
+x+=+.36%2A5+
+x+=+1.8+
-----------------------
+x%2F4+=+1.8%2F4+
+1.8%2F4+=+.45+
The concentration of the 4 quarts added is 45%
