this makes sense since 2/5 = 4/10 and 1/4 of 4/10 = 1/10 and 3/4 of 4/10 = 3/10.
therefore:
3/5 take spanish.
1/10 take german.
3/10 take french.
since 3/5 = 6/10, you get 6/10 + 1/10 + 3/10 = 10/10 = 1, so all students are accounted for.
