Question 1097764: the sum of three consecutive odd numbers is 38 more than the average of these numbers then what are the numbers?

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20060) About Me  (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+%2B+%28x%2B2%29+%2B+%28x%2B4%29+=+%28x%2B%28x%2B2%29%2B%28x%2B4%29%29%2F3+%2B+38

Multiply through by 3 to clear the fraction:

 3x+%2B+3%28x%2B2%29+%2B+3%28x%2B4%29+=+x%2B%28x%2B2%29%2B%28x%2B4%29+%2B+114

Solve that for x. That's the smallest. Add 2 to
it, that's the next number and add 4 to it, and
that's the third one.
