You can put this solution on YOUR website! The increase this year:
The ratio of the increase and the total number
of students this year is:
-------------
get a 2nd opinion if needed
check my math
Step 1: Add the 340 students to the 1400 last year to get the
number of students this year.
Step 2: Make a fraction with the increase 340 as the numerator
and the number of students this year that you got above as the
denominator. Then reduce the fraction by dividing both top and
bottom by 20.
Step 3: Then write the answer as a ratio like this
final numerator : final denominator.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Last year was 1400
This year is 340 more, so the new figure is 1740.
The ratio is 340/1740 which can first be reduced to 34/174
That can be reduced by 2 to 17/87, which is lowest terms.
