Suppose the shared N bananas

The first received 1/3 of the bananas,
So what remained was 2/3N

the second received 3/8 of the remainder,
So what remained was 5/8 of 2/3N

third received 1/5 of the remainder.
So what remained was 4/5 of 5/8 of 2/3N

If the fourth received the remaining 26 bananas.
So 4/5 of 5/8 of 2/3N = 26
