You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Kyle works for 38 hours in a single week. He earns $14 and hour. So far he has earned 14*38 = 532 dollars.
Add on the expression 0.08*x where the 0.08 represents the decimal form of 8% and x is the amount in sales.
So we now have 532+0.08*x which is the same as 0.08*x+532 since we can add in any order.
The expression 0.08*x+532 represents the total amount of money Kyle earns (base hourly pay plus commission bonus). We want the total amount he earns to be $1200. So we set 0.08*x+532 equal to 1200
The equation is therefore: 0.08*x+532=1200 which is effectively the same as 0.08x+532=1200
-----------------------------------
Let's solve that equation for x
0.08*x+532=1200
0.08*x+532-532=1200-532 subtract 532 from both sides
