Question 1096276: A cargo plane flew from the US across the Atlantic at 245 mph, and flew back to the US at 265 mph. Given that the first trip took two hours longer, how long was return trip?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Distance = Speed * Time
Assuming that distance traveled in one way trip is D and time taken for the onward and return journey is T1 and T2, then
Since the distance traveled in both onward and return journey is same, we can say D = 245 * T1 = 265 * T2 ____________(1)
Also we know that the Time taken in first journey was 2 hours longer than the return journey, therefore
T1 - T2 = 2 or T1 = T2 + 2 ___________(2)
Substituting value T1 in equation (1), we will get
245* (T2+2) = 265 * T2 => 20*T2 = 490 => T2 = 24.5 hrs or 24 hrs and 30 mins
