Question 1095509: Lisa and Andy start walking around a circular track from the same spot, but going in opposite directions. Lisa is walking at 4 feet per second while Andy is walking at 5 feet per second. When they meet the first time, Lisa has walked 360 feet. What is the circumference of the track? Found 2 solutions by ikleyn, ankor@dixie-net.com:Answer by ikleyn(52855) (Show Source):
Lisa walked for = 90 seconds.
In 90 seconds Andy walked 90*5 = 450 feet.
The entire length of the circular track is exactly the sum 360 + 450 = 810 feet.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Lisa and Andy start walking around a circular track from the same spot,
but going in opposite directions.
Lisa is walking at 4 feet per second while Andy is walking at 5 feet per second.
When they meet the first time, Lisa has walked 360 feet.
What is the circumference of the track?
:
Find the time it takes L to walk 360 ft; t = dist/speed = 90 seconds
A also walks for 90 sec, find the distance he walked.
90 * 5 = 450 ft
therefore
360 + 450 = 810 ft this circumference of the track
