You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x be the slower cyclist, then
:
3x + (x+4)3 = 132
:
3x +3x +12 = 132
:
6x = 120
:
x = 20
:
********************************
rate of slower cyclist is 20 mph
rate of faster cyclist is 24 mph

Two cyclists leave towns 132mi apart at the same time and travel toward each other. One cyclist travels 4 /mih [sic] **** It's mi/hr *** faster than the other. If they meet in 3 hours, what is the rate of each cyclist?
--------------
Speeds in opposite directions are added.
-------
Step 1, find the sum of the speeds.
--
The difference is given, = 4 mi/hr.
-----------
Call the speeds x & y
--
x + y = sum
x - y = 4
---------------------- Add
2x = sum + 4
etc.
