Question 1092541: Solve show work y+1/y+6 + 5y/y^2-36=y-3/y-6
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! common denominator is (y+6)(y-6)
numerator is (y+1)(y-6)+5y=(y-3)(y+6)
y^2-5y-6+5y=y^2+3y-18.
Therefore,[ y^2-5y-6+5y]/(y^2-36)=[y^2+3y-18]/(y^2-36)
Since the denominator is the same on both sides, it cancels out.
-6=3y-18
3y=12
y=4
check
5/10+20/-20=(1/-2), and that is true.
