You can put this solution on YOUR website!

If the ratio has to be 2:5, then we can think of buying the candies in "units" consisting of 2 chocolate candies and 5 caramel candies. The cost of one of those units will be
2%281.00%29%2B5%280.75%29+=+2.00%2B3.75+=+5.75

A bit of arithmetic shows that the only answer choice that is a multiple of this "unit price" is $17.25, answer B.

Each chocolate candy costs 4 quarters. Each caramel candy costs 3 quarters.
A set of 2 chocolate candies and 5 caramel candies would cost
2%2A4%2B5%D73=8%2B15=23 quarters.

%22%2427.90%22 is not an integer number of quarters,
so we can eliminate that answer right away.

%22%2415%22=15%2A4quarters=60quarters is not a multiple of 23quarters ,
so that is not the answer either.

%22%2417.25%22=17.25%2A4quarters=69quarters=3%2A23quarters could be the total cost of a bag of candies with chocolate and caramel candies in a 2:5 ratio.

I would stop checking there , because I expect multiple choice questions to have just one right answer, but we can check the remaining answer choice too.

%22%2419.50%22=19.50%2A4quarters=58quarters is not a multiple of 23quarters ,
so it is not a correct answer.
