You can put this solution on YOUR website!
There are 3000 students at Canyon High School and 2/5 of these students are seniors.
If 4/5 of the seniors are opposed to the school forming a rock climbing team and 9/10 of the remaining students (not seniors) are also opposed to forming a rock climbing team,
how many students are in favor of this idea?
:
2%2F5*3000 = 1200 seniors
then
3000 - 1200 = 1800 students not seniors
therefore
4%2F5 * 1200 = 960 do not like rock climbing
and
9%2F10 * 1800 = 1620 also do not like it
:
"how many students are in favor of this idea?"
subtract the "don't likes" from 3000
3000 - (960+1620) = 420 like rock climbing
