Question 1090533: Hi can somebody please help me answer this question? thank you so much.
Jacqueline threw a ball from 1 m above the ground. The ball reached a maximum height of 46 m at 3 seconds.
a) Determine the equation that will model the parabola for this situation
b) How long does it take until the ball hits the ground
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The equation for the balls' movement would be -1/2g(t²)+v(t)+1 in this case. So, we have:
h(t)=-4.9(3²)+v(3)+1, or
46=-4.9(9)+3v+1, or
3v=89.1
v=29.7 m/s. So,
h(t)=-4.9t²+29.7t+1
---------
The ball will hit the ground when h(t)=0, so:
0=-4.9t²+29.7t+1
Solve for t
