Question 1089685: A tank (open) has the following inside dimensions:
Length; 2 ft.
Width; 2 ft.
Depth; 1.5 ft.
Made of 1/8 in. thick lead.
Determine weight of tank.
Lead weighs .41 lbs. / cu. in.

Volume = length * width * height (or depth).
External volume: 24 * 24 * 18 * 0.125 = 1296 cu. in.
Internal: 24 * 24 * 18 = 10368 cu. in.
1296 - 10368 = -9072
Not sure. Non-homework.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
External dimensions

Length  24 + 2*0.125  = 24.25 in;
Width   24 + 2*0.125  = 24.25 in;
Height  18 +    0.125 = 18.125 in.   (No lid !)

Having this, calculate external volume.

Calculate internal volume.

Take the difference of volumes.

Then multiply by density.

Good luck !
