You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
Solve each compound inequality, write its solution set in interval notation, and graph the solution set on a number line.

-7<3x+5<11
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-7 < 3x + 5 < 11.
Subtract 5 from each compound of the inequality. You will get an equivalent compound inequality
-7 - 5 < (3x + 5) -5 < 11 - 5,    or, which is the same
  - 12 < 3x < 6.
Now divide each compound of the inequality by positive 3. You will get
  -4  < x < 2.
It is your solution.
Answer. The solution to the original compound inequality is  -4 < x < 2.
