Question 1086263: I cannot figure out the equation to calculate the following question. If two workers are working at different rates, how many minutes until their production is the same.
What would I do to be able to calculate this? I know it is something about d-r*t, but I cannot make a single equation that includes all the information.
Thank you for your help.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Rate x Time = Output
Let's assume an output of 100 completes the task.
So then,
R%5B1%5D%2At%5B1%5D=100
R%5B2%5D%2At%5B2%5D=100
So,
R%5B1%5Dt%5B1%5D=R%5B2%5Dt%5B2%5D
So you can calculate the ratio of times to complete if you know the rates,
t%5B1%5D%2Ft%5B2%5D=R%5B2%5D%2FR%5B1%5D
or you can calculate the ratio of rates if you know the times to complete,
R%5B2%5D%2FR%5B1%5D=t%5B1%5D%2Ft%5B2%5D
